The Research Project

This site documents an independent research project that operates on two levels. At its core is the P System, a theoretical and computational framework that explores the hypothesis of a grammatical origin of prime numbers. From this research emerges the long-term vision of SyntaxOS: an experimental computational paradigm where operations are not based on binary logic, but on the coherent transformation of symbolic structures governed by a formal grammar.

Operating Principles

In this model, the system operates through "grammatical transformation". Data structures are not passive containers of information, but active entities that propagate and interact according to the formal rules of the P System. The result of a computation is a new coherent symbolic structure, generated by the process itself.

Framework Validation and Application Areas

The consistency of the P System framework has been validated through the development of the Selective Genealogical Algorithm (SGA), a method for generating prime numbers that has demonstrated high-level performance (calculation of primes up to 10¹² in about 28 minutes). Preliminary applications of the language in domains such as cryptography, physics, and linguistics are presented in the "P Laboratory" section and indicate research areas currently under exploration.

The Project and the Author

This project was conceived and developed by Valerio Antognelli as an independent research path. The entire theoretical framework is based on the research documented in the essay "The P System and the Grammatical Origin of Prime Numbers". The research journey began with the fundamental analysis of the nature of prime numbers and then expanded into the development of a more general computational framework. The implementations and case studies presented in the P Laboratory demonstrate the model's effectiveness and explore its potential interdisciplinary applications.
